Elon Musk-run Tesla has obtained a clear chit from the US Nationwide Transportation Security Board (NTSB) in a deadly crash involving a Tesla Mannequin S Autopilot system in 2021.
The US transportation company decided that the “possible reason for the Spring, Texas, electrical car crash was the driving force’s extreme velocity and failure to regulate his automotive”.
This was “as a consequence of impairment from alcohol intoxication together with the results of two sedating antihistamines, leading to a roadway departure, tree influence and post-crash hearth,” the security board mentioned in its report.
As for Autopilot, the NTSB decided it wasn’t in use as a result of the system shouldn’t be programmed to not go sooner than 30 mph on the road the Tesla final traveled.
