US House Democratic lawmakers late on Thursday proposed awarding the Federal Trade Commission $1 billion to arrange a bureau devoted to bettering knowledge safety and privateness and combating identification theft.
The proposal, which Democrats plan to incorporate in a $3.5 trillion spending measure, would fund over 10 years a brand new bureau to deal with “unfair or misleading acts or practices regarding privateness, knowledge safety, identification theft, knowledge abuses, and associated issues,” based on a abstract launched by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
